Known for his signature style of putting on beautiful Afrocentric caps, Spinall (also known as Top Boy) and born Oluseye Desmond Sodamola is a prominent Nigerian DJ, producer, and songwriter in the Afrobeats genre.
With over 10 years of being in the music industry, he has been able to attain several significant milestones, notably launching his record label, TheCAPMusic, in 2014. He has an impressive portfolio of six albums and has collaborated with top Nigerian acts like 2Baba, Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, Phyno, Tiwa Savage, and more under his belt.
Spinall made history as the first Nigerian DJ to tour 5 cities in the United States and first African DJ to perform at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. In 2017, he was the official DJ at the BET Awards held in Los Angeles and this put him at the forefront of the movement ‘Afrobeats to the world’. Over the years, he went on to perform at Afro Nation, One Africa Music Fest, Bruno Mars Live and Exclusive and MTV Europe Music Awards and more.
The brand, Spinall grew remarkably and it attracted deals from other top brands such as Atlantic Records UK, Warner Chappell Music UK, Guinness Nigeria, and Pepsi, showcasing his influence and success in the industry. One of the highlights of his growth was his inclusion among the 2,300 music executive inductees into The Recording Academy’s class of 2020 for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. He also walked the runway during the Lagos fashion week in 2019. In 2023, Spinall boasts of the biggest Spotify ‘wrapped’ for an Afrobeats DJ with 71.2Million streams and 9.9million listeners. MixMag recognised him as one of the top DJs that defined the year 2023.
Although he has gone international, Spinall never forgot his roots as he holds a yearly event at home in Nigeria. The event tagged, Party of Your Dreams, holds yearly and the latest edition held at Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel and Casino on December 17, 2023 under the umbrella of his label, TheCAPMusic and was sponsored by Pepsi and Access Bank. The event had guest artists like Omah Lay in attendance, marking yet another celebration of his dynamic influence in the ‘Afrobeats To The World’ journey.
